Indonesia's Culture Minister Fadli Zon Announces Museum Revitalization and Fashion Promotion Initiatives

Indonesia's Minister of Culture Fadli Zon said the government will revitalize nearly 200 museums and heritage sites in 2026, including major royal palaces such as Maimun Palace and Surakarta Palace. The program targets provincial museums, improving exhibition displays and providing special allocation funds of Rp1‑3 billion per year to turn them into modern educational and tourism hubs.

Zon also highlighted the role of fashion designers in promoting Indonesian textiles, especially batik, on the international stage. He cited designer Ivan Gunawan’s free public exhibition "Nusanova 2.0 Sekar Jagat" in Jakarta, which showcases Madura‑inspired batik motifs transformed into contemporary fashion, and urged greater collaboration between Indonesian and foreign designers to accelerate cultural promotion worldwide.
