President Prabowo reviews 150‑200 BRIN innovations across 12 research clusters
On 6 August 2026, President Prabowo Subianto met with roughly 150 researchers from Indonesia’s National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta. BRIN head Arif Satria briefed the president on about 150–200 innovation products curated from 12 research clusters covering food, energy, health, transportation, housing, space, aviation, nuclear technology, rare‑earth metals, the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program and support for fishing villages. Specific showcases included Absorbed Natural Gas technology, a locally produced rubber shoe priced around Rp75 000, and a Metal‑Organic Framework system projected to save up to Rp26 trillion annually in LPG subsidies. Nuclear experts highlighted Indonesia’s uranium reserves of roughly 89 000 tons and thorium of 143 000 tons, underscoring plans for future nuclear power. BRIN also announced the upcoming launch of the NEO‑1 satellite in early 2027 to provide independent satellite imagery for agriculture, forestry and disaster mitigation. The meeting aimed to align research outputs with the government’s priority programs and demonstrate Indonesia’s growing national technology capability.
