Indonesia’s Environment Minister Highlights Green Policies as President Prabowo Attracts Global Investors

On 4 August 2026, Indonesia’s Minister of Environment and Head of the Environmental Control Agency, Moh. Jumhur Hidayat, hosted a delegation of six international investment firms at the ministry’s Jakarta office. The group, led by Ambassador Robert O. Blake Jr., chairman of the U.S.–Indonesia Society, included Seventh AP Fund, Green Century Capital Management, KLP Asset Management, UBS, Saturna Capital and Ziranjiti.

During the meeting, Minister Jumhur praised President Prabowo Subianto’s administration as the “greenest presidency,” citing initiatives that combine human‑resource development, food and energy security, and sustained environmental protection. He highlighted the National Ecological Restoration Movement and Indonesia’s pioneering mandatory biodiesel B50 program launched in July 2026, which builds on earlier B30 and B40 mandates.

The investors stressed that future funding will depend on Indonesia’s ability to maintain deforestation declines, improve mining sector governance, raise ESG standards, safeguard the national carbon market and provide long‑term regulatory certainty. Minister Jumhur affirmed the government’s commitment to balance economic growth with ecological stewardship, emphasizing the use of degraded land for ecological restoration as a concrete step forward.
