Indonesia's Fahri Hamzah Calls for Ethics Court to Curb Corruption

Fahri Hamzah, vice‑chairman of the Gelora Party, urged the creation of a comprehensive Ethics Court (Peradilan Etika) in Indonesia to address ethical violations and conflicts of interest among public officials. He argued that the existing criminal courts are slow and that an ethics‑focused tribunal could impose swift sanctions, ranging from reprimands to dismissal, before misconduct escalates into criminal corruption.

Speaking at a development‑study event on 1 August 2026, Hamzah said, “Kita sudah memiliki peradilan hukum, namun belum memiliki peradilan etika yang komprehensif,” and added that the new court would provide a “simple and fast” pathway for dealing with serious ethical breaches. He emphasized a dual approach to corruption—systemic legal measures combined with individual ethical accountability—and noted that agencies such as the KPK continue to capture many offenders, but an ethics court would serve as a vital shortcut for early intervention.
