Indonesia KPK investigates alleged bribes by Bupati Suhardiman Amby to Forestry Minister Raja Juli
Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has uncovered a series of meetings between Suhardiman Amby, the former regent of Kuantan Singingi, and the Minister of Forestry, Raja Juli Antoni, in April, May and on 2 June 2026. Investigators allege that Amby handed SGD 12,500 to a Ministry of Forestry official in May and SGD 14,000 to the minister on 2 June as part of a scheme to influence the release of forest land.
The minister later returned only SGD 12,000, leaving a shortfall of about SGD 2,000. KPK seized SGD 12,500 linked to the case and, following a joint operation on 29 June 2026 in Kuantan Singingi and Jakarta that detained ten people, formally named Amby, district secretary Zulkarnain and PT Mitra Ideal Consultant director Ardiles as suspects for bribery tied to forest‑land concessions.
KPK also rejected the minister’s 3 July report that he had refused the gratification, stating on 17 July that the matter was already under investigation.
