Indonesia's Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni pledges merit‑based reforms for ministry staff

Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni announced a commitment to raise the competence of Indonesia’s forest sector workforce. He said promotions and career development for civil servants will be based on capacity, competence and performance, not on ethnic, religious or personal connections. The minister outlined plans to create an objective talent pool recorded digitally, accessible to all, as part of a broader merit‑based bureaucracy reform.

Antoni also emphasized cultural change within the ministry, encouraging continuous learning through formal and informal education, and pledged scholarships and training opportunities to prepare future forestry leaders. He acknowledged that the reform process may encounter resistance but urged staff to contribute to improving forest conservation, development and public welfare.
