Indonesia's Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni pledges stronger carbon market governance

Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni said the Indonesian government will keep improving the national carbon‑trading ecosystem, noting the country’s huge carbon potential has been hampered by outdated mindsets. The administration has issued Presidential Regulation No. 110/2025 on carbon economic value and Ministry of Forestry Regulation No. 6/2026 to provide a technical framework for the sector. International bodies such as ICVCM, Verra and IETA have praised the new rules. The ministry is also launching pilot carbon‑trading projects in Way Kambas National Park and has created a National Park Funding Innovation Task Force to promote blended‑finance schemes for conservation. Industry representatives reported that these measures are already yielding positive results, citing ongoing projects in Manusela and Halmahera that are seeking international validation.
