The Ministry of Forestry’s law‑enforcement unit in Sumatra arrested two men, identified only as S (64) and TN (26), for constructing an illegal road with a hydraulic excavator inside Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park in West Lampung. Director‑General Dwi Januanto Nugroho warned that such roads can open protected areas to illegal logging, poaching and other forest crimes.

In a separate case, investigators handed over suspect BS (also known as BG, 50) to the Solok District Prosecutor’s Office together with three heavy‑equipment units, 152 logs totalling 237.53 m³ and related paperwork. The suspect was linked to a large‑scale illegal timber‑harvesting operation uncovered in Solok, West Sumatra, and faces up to five years in prison and a fine of up to 3.5 billion rupiah.
