Indonesia's GAPKI Urges Review of Kopdes Merah Putih CPO Plant Permit
The Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI) has asked the government to conduct a comprehensive assessment before granting a permit to the Koperasi Desa (Kopdes) Merah Putih to manage a crude palm oil (CPO) plant in Central Kalimantan. GAPKI says any policy should be based on a detailed analysis of technical, economic and social impacts to ensure benefits for the industry, local communities and the national economy.
GAPKI spokesperson Mochamad Husni reiterated the association's support for government programs provided they are preceded by thorough studies, also noting that GAPKI is reviewing the implementation of the biodiesel B50 program. The association hopes that a well‑examined decision will lead to effective implementation and positive outcomes for Indonesia’s palm oil sector.
