GIIAS 2026 fuels surge of new SUVs and aftermarket partnership in Indonesia

Several manufacturers are unveiling new models ahead of the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026. Suzuki will present the XL7 Facelift 2026 at the show, offering three variants – New Zeta, New Beta Hybrid and New Alpha Hybrid – and continues to rely on strong sales of its Fronx hybrid, which recorded more than 14,000 units between June 2025 and May 2026. The event also sees a range of fresh SUV pricing, with MPV models listed from roughly Rp167 million and the debut of BAIC’s T1 electric crossover featuring ADAS Level 2, vehicle‑to‑load and vehicle‑to‑vehicle connectivity.

Other notable launches include Geely’s boxy Galaxy Cruiser 700, debuting globally and scheduled for a showcase in Milan, and Segway’s entry into the Indonesian UTV market with the Super Villain SX20T, a turbo‑charged 2.0 L unit delivering 235 hp. Yamaha is preparing a new electric motorcycle that will use a relatively rare technology platform. Meanwhile, German supplier ZF Group signed a memorandum of understanding with PT Mitra Kencana Nusantara to become the sole distributor of TRW aftermarket parts in Indonesia, signalling a push for higher‑quality components in the domestic market.

Collectively these developments indicate a competitive and diversified automotive landscape in Indonesia, spanning conventional SUVs, electric vehicles, and premium aftermarket solutions.
