Indonesia's Higher Education Minister urges universities to monetize research

Indonesia's Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Brian Yuliarto, has called on universities to transform academic knowledge and research into practical solutions that benefit society. Speaking at the Higher Education Leadership Academy (AKPT) Phase III, Yuliarto emphasized that scientific culture and innovation must be integrated into institutional development to create real-world impact.

Defining an excellent institution as a ‘premier league’ campus, the Minister stated that top-tier universities should be capable of generating revenue from their research, innovation, and developed knowledge. He noted that institutional transformation should be tailored to the unique character, capacity, and potential of each university rather than simply imitating the strategies of others.
