Indonesia's Idul Adha 2026 kurban reaches over 2 million animals, aiding millions of families

The Ministry of Religious Affairs reported that more than 2 032 753 animals (676 866 cows and 1 355 887 goats) were sacrificed for Idul Adha 1447 Hijri (2026) across Indonesia, generating an estimated economic value of roughly Rp 18.3 trillion and producing about 96 000 tonnes of meat for distribution.

Corporate and academic institutions participated in the charitable distribution. PT PLN’s Central Java unit delivered meat from 18 cows and 19 goats to 2 400 vulnerable families in West Java and Central Java. Meanwhile, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara slaughtered 66 animals and allocated meat to 3 605 voucher holders as well as residents of remote districts such as Pakpak Bharat and Nias Utara.

Authorities emphasized that the large‑scale kurban not only fulfills religious duties but also serves as a major social‑welfare mechanism, providing protein to low‑income communities and supporting livestock traders, butchers and related businesses nationwide.
