Indonesia's Komdigi warns of AI mini-dramas spreading illicit content

The Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) has raised concerns regarding a trend of AI-generated mini-dramas on social media. Deputy Minister Nezar Patria stated that these short films, created using artificial intelligence, often contain pornography, sexual violence, and elements of online gambling.

According to Patria, these social media clips frequently serve as a gateway to external, paid platforms where content is almost entirely uncensored. To address this issue, Komdigi plans to collaborate with social media platforms through shared dashboards to monitor illegal content. The ministry is also exploring cooperation with the Film Censorship Board (LSF) and intends to coordinate more deeply with technology companies to oversee over-the-top (OTT) services and the destination applications used by viewers.
