Indonesia's Kominfo cracks down on illegal online slot gambling
The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Kominfo) in Indonesia is intensifying efforts to eliminate illegal online slot gambling. Authorities are blocking access to unlicensed gambling sites, enforcing strict verification of licences, and coordinating with financial watchdogs to curb the flow of funds to such platforms. According to data from the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK), the number of Indonesians accessing illegal gambling sites has fallen by about 50% following the crackdown.
Kominfo officials say the initiative targets the proliferation of offshore gambling operators and the distribution of illicit gambling links, which have been widely shared on social media. The ministry emphasizes the need for stronger technical filters and public awareness to prevent further growth of the illegal gambling market.
