Bupati Pemalang Anom Widiyantoro detained in KPK anti‑corruption raid
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) carried out an Operation Tangkap Tangan (OTT) on 28–29 July 2026 in Pemalang Regency, Central Java. The raid detained regent Anom Widiyantoro and a total of 21 people across Jakarta, Pemalang and Purworejo. KPK seized more than Rp 2 billion in cash and sealed two properties – a house in Mutiara Residence and the Pemalang Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) office.
Investigators identified two clusters: alleged extortion by the regent against subordinates and private firms, and alleged extortion by a KPK staff member (a police officer serving as KPK administrative staff). Suspects named include Setya Budi Dias Oktavianto, Lilik Budi Suprianto and Mohamad Haris. The provincial government quickly appointed the deputy regent, Nurkholes, as acting (Plt) regent to avoid a leadership vacuum, and Governor Ahmad Luthfi expressed concern over the case.
The operation adds to a series of anti‑corruption actions against regional heads in 2026 and has drawn public attention to the regent’s declared wealth of roughly Rp 21 billion, as reported in his asset declaration.
