Indonesia's KPK detains East Java legislator Moch Mahrus over Pokmas grant bribery
Indonesia’s anti‑corruption commission (KPK) arrested East Java DPRD member Moch Mahrus (also known as M. Mahrus Ali) on 28 July 2026. He is accused of bribing former deputy speaker Anwar Sadad with cash (about Rp 1.5 billion), gold (≈1 kg), a house payment and other benefits to secure the allocation of Rp 83.4 billion in community‑grant (Pokmas) funds for Probolinggo.
The suspect wears an orange detention vest and is being held for an initial 20‑day period at the KPK’s Red‑White Building detention facility. KPK has named a total of 21 suspects, split into three investigative clusters, with ten alleged bribe‑givers. Earlier, on 22 July 2026, three co‑suspects—Achmad Yahya, M. Fathullah and Ra. Wahid Ruslan—were also detained. Asset seizures worth roughly Rp 22 billion from Anwar Sadad and his staffer Bagus Wahyudiono have been reported as part of the investigation.
