Indonesia's KPK investigates alleged $46.5k bribe from Kuantan Singingi regent to Forestry Minister Raja Juli
Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) continues to investigate a flow of about 46,500 Singapore dollars that prosecutors say was collected by Suhardiman Amby, the regent of Kuantan Singingi in Riau province. The money was allegedly gathered through intermediaries from members of village cooperatives, village heads and sub‑district officials, exchanged into Singapore dollars, and handed over to the Minister of Forestry, Raja Juli Antoni. Raja Juli has publicly acknowledged receiving the funds, though the exact amount he accepted remains unconfirmed.
KPK investigators have also seized 12,500 Singapore dollars from Juprizal, who serves as both the chair of the Kuantan Singingi regional council (DPRD) and the head of a village cooperative. According to Juprizal, the seized cash represents a portion of the money that Raja Juli reportedly returned to the regent. KPK officials say the investigation is ongoing and they are still determining how much of the total sum was actually intended for the minister.
