Indonesia's KPK charges Kuantan Singingi regent Suhardiman Amby with bribery over forest land and Sekda appointment

Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) opened a probe into Kuantan Singingi regent Suhardiman Amby, alleging he demanded a 2.05‑billion‑rupiah Toyota Land Cruiser 300 GR‑S as a payment for the appointment of Sekretaris Daerah Zulkarnain. The commission also suspects Amby of receiving gratification linked to the release of 3,800 hectares of forest land (HPT) in the regency, a decision authorized by the Ministry of Forestry.

KPK’s Operation Tangkap Tangan on 29‑30 June 2026 in Kuantan Singingi and Jakarta detained ten people, five of whom were taken to the KPK headquarters. Amby, Zulkarnain and PT Mitra Ideal Consultant director Ardiles surrendered at Soekarno‑Hatta airport and were formally named suspects on 1 July 2026. Investigators said the funds were collected from local village cooperatives (KUD) by cutting half of their surplus earnings (SHU). KPK said it may summon Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni for testimony to clarify the forest‑land release process.
