Indonesia's KPK raids Lombok Barat office, seizes luxury car amid bribery probe of Regent

On July 2026, Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted a raid on the office of Lombok Barat regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini in West Nusa Tenggara. Officers entered the regent’s workspace, procurement department and assistant’s office, accompanied by local police and municipal security. No documents or electronics were immediately confiscated on site.

The operation led to the seizure of a luxury Alphard vehicle and the arrest of 19 individuals, seven of whom were taken to Jakarta for questioning. The KPK subsequently named three suspects: Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini, Sudirman, director of PT Air Minum Giri Menang, and Alfonsus Gani, director of PT Meconel Sistem Instrumen.

Prosecutors allege that Zaini received about Rp 10.8 billion in kick‑backs, part of a larger Rp 41.7 billion flow through a contractor, and an additional Rp 1.6 billion in cash and goods from Gani to facilitate a Rp 27.1 billion clean‑water project. The suspects are charged with conflict of interest, bribery and receipt of gratuities under Indonesia’s anti‑corruption laws.
