Indonesia's KPK widens customs corruption investigation

Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said its probe into alleged graft within the Directorate General of Customs could be expanded to include the Food and Drug Authority (BPOM) and the Ministry of Trade if sufficient evidence is found. The agency is also examining possible illegal fund transfers to police officers linked to cargo firm Blueray Cargo, where investigators allege cash was distributed through company staff to officers at various levels. Police watchdog leader Sugeng Teguh Santoso urged the KPK to pursue these leads and identify all recipients. KPK deputy Asep Guntur Rahayu confirmed that investigators are questioning dozens of freight forwarders across Indonesian ports as part of the broader import‑related corruption case.
