Indonesia's KSPI Says No Major Labor Protests Planned for Aug‑Sept 2026

KSPI leader Said Iqbal announced that the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions will not organise any large‑scale demonstrations in August or September 2026, dismissing rumours of potential unrest.

Iqbal also said the union is optimistic that three of its four key demands will be settled by September 2026. The pending issues include revising the 2026 outsourcing regulation, eliminating the tax on the withdrawal of the old‑age security fund (JHT), and raising the statutory severance pay from 0.5 to at least one month’s salary. He noted that regulatory changes are already under discussion and could be finalised as early as August.

The statements were made during a virtual press conference and reflect KSPI’s focus on policy negotiations rather than street actions.
