Airlangga Hartarto pushes investment and tourism boost for Indonesia in Q3 2026
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto announced that the Indonesian government will intensify investment and tourism initiatives in the third quarter of 2026. He highlighted Bali, West Nusa Tenggara and East Nusa Tenggara as key growth drivers and cited the newly launched direct Bali‑Phuket flight operated by TransNusa as a catalyst for increased visitor flows. Statistics Indonesia reported 630.41 million domestic trips from January to June 2026, the highest level since before the COVID‑19 pandemic, and foreign arrivals in June 2026 of 605,013 to Bali (+4.63 % month‑on‑month), 1,368,707 to West Nusa Tenggara (+2.73 %), and 29,152 to East Nusa Tenggara (+40.73 % year‑on‑year).
Hartarto also linked recent labour‑absorption gains to sectoral investment, noting that 522,000 jobs were added between February and May 2026, driven by downstream, manufacturing and food‑and‑beverage expansion, which grew around 10 % in the same period. The minister said these sectors are supporting the creation of new jobs across the production chain.
In a separate briefing, Hartarto confirmed that the annual work plan and budget (RKAT) have been revised to accommodate the formation of PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI) and the Danantara Development Management Fund (DDMF), initiatives aimed at strengthening export oversight and curbing illicit trade.
