Indonesia's mining companies highlight sustainability and governance initiatives

PT Multi Harapan Utama (MHU), a subsidiary of MMS Group Indonesia, received the PR Popular Companies Award 2026 for its sustainable coal mining practices. The company emphasized its commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards, transparent reporting on environmental management, safety, community empowerment and other sustainability initiatives.

PT Timah Tbk stressed the need to strengthen mining governance to ensure the long‑term viability of Indonesia’s tin industry. The firm highlighted the importance of clear regulations, legal and transparent tin ore trade, and open dialogue with local communities. After a recent incident, Timah activated an Emergency Response Plan that included personnel evacuation, site security with authorities and phased asset recovery, ensuring no casualties and prioritising worker safety.

Both companies underscored that responsible communication and consistent actions are essential to building public trust and maintaining operational continuity in the sector.
