Indonesia's Ministry of Cooperatives implements new staffing and regional growth strategies
Indonesia's Minister of Cooperatives, Ferry Juliantono, is implementing new operational strategies for the Merah Putih Village/Sub-district Cooperatives (KDKMP) and regional economic development.
To ensure professional management and rapid operational readiness, the government is adopting a flexible human resources placement policy. While prioritizing local residents to maintain proximity to home, managers may be deployed to different regions if local candidates are insufficient or if specific cooperatives are ready for operation. This approach aims to prevent management vacancies while ensuring equitable job opportunities.
Additionally, the Ministry is promoting economic empowerment in the Lake Toba region through cross-sector collaboration between the central government, local authorities, universities, and community organizations. During a visit to Sisingamangaraja XII University in North Sumatra, Juliantono highlighted support for integrated agriculture projects, such as garlic cultivation, to strengthen local economies and reduce food import dependency.
