Indonesia's Ministry of Manpower transforms labor services and safety protocols

Indonesia's Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) is implementing several initiatives to modernize labor services and safety. Minister Yassierli announced a transformation of Occupational Health and Safety (K3) Centers nationwide. The centers will shift from an administrative and laboratory-focused orientation toward a more proactive role, emphasizing education, guidance, and intervention to prevent workplace accidents and occupational diseases.

To improve service quality, Kemnaker is strengthening data integration across various agencies. Anwar Sanusi, Head of the Planning and Development Agency, noted that this digital transformation aims to create a more adaptive bureaucracy capable of handling challenges like automation and artificial intelligence. A key component of this is the SIAPkerja ecosystem, a digital platform that integrates worker and employer profiles by connecting with institutions such as the Ministry of Home Affairs, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, and the Ministry of Communication and Digital.

Additionally, the Ministry is monitoring the impact of its Independent Labor (TKM) capital assistance program. During a visit to Purwakarta, officials reviewed how business owners, such as those in the food and fishery sectors, have utilized the funds to expand production capacity and create local employment opportunities.
