Indonesia's Ministry of Public Works integrates BIM technology for school projects
The Indonesian Ministry of Public Works is implementing Building Information Modelling (BIM) integrated with a Common Data Environment (CDE) for the second phase of the 'Sekolah Rakyat' (People's School) construction project.
Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo stated that this digital system aims to improve planning accuracy, strengthen construction supervision, and ensure transparent and accountable data management. The technology uses 3D digital modeling to represent physical and functional building characteristics, providing technical information to support decision-making from planning through maintenance.
The integrated ecosystem facilitates collaboration between project owners, contractors, construction management, planning consultants, and auditors. This initiative is intended to improve the efficiency and quality of educational infrastructure, including school buildings, dormitories, and sanitation facilities, to provide better access for children from extreme poverty backgrounds.
