Indonesia's Narcotics Agency Conducts Youth Anti‑Drug Camp in Kendal

On 25 June 2026, the Badan Narkotika Nasional office in Kendal organized a one‑day anti‑drug camp for 70 students from local anti‑drug patrol units. The event, part of the International Anti‑Drug Day (HANI) celebrations, featured the national anthem, an anti‑drug march, a symbolic fire‑lighting ceremony and the presentation of a local literary work. Anna Setyawati, head of BNN Kendal, said, “The hope of HANI 2026 is to create concern among the youth to combat drugs and make Kendal a safe, peaceful, and drug‑free area.” Kendal Regent Dyah Kartika Permanasari echoed the call for stronger commitment to protect children and students from drug threats.

Nationally, Indonesia marked HANI 2026 with the theme “Building a Healthy, Smart and Strong Generation through the Ananda Bersinar Movement toward a Golden Indonesia 2045.” Government data show a 2.11 % prevalence of drug use among people aged 15‑64, amounting to 4.15‑4.9 million individuals, with over 312 000 students exposed to drugs. Law‑enforcement seized hundreds of tons of substances and opened tens of thousands of cases. Officials emphasized the need for a balanced approach that distinguishes between users, who should receive rehabilitation, and traffickers, who require stricter penalties, in line with existing narcotics legislation.
