Indonesia's New Capital Judicial Complex Construction Reaches 12% Progress
On 1 August 2026, Constitutional Court Judge Arsul Sani and Secretary‑General of the Mahkamah Konstitusi, Heru Setiawan, inspected the judicial cluster of the new capital, Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN). They were received by Basuki Hadimuljono, head of the IKN Authority, who briefed them on the infrastructure development.
According to construction data dated 29 July 2026, the combined physical progress of the Mahkamah Konstitusi and the Judicial Commission building stands at 12.41 percent, with the broader judicial facilities averaging 11.8 percent. Roads in the judicial zone have reached 27.6 percent completion, covering 7.8 km. The MK building will occupy about 44,691 m² and will include a plenary hall for 400 people, judges' meeting rooms, and other support areas. Both officials expressed optimism that the project will stay on schedule, and Judge Sani also planted a tree in the judicial plaza as a symbol of sustainability.
