Indonesia's Ojek Drivers Adopt Dedicated WhatsApp Numbers and Convert Unused Mobile Credit to DANA

Indonesian online‑motorcycle (ojek) drivers are increasingly separating their work communication by registering fresh, unused phone numbers on WhatsApp. By obtaining new SIM cards through official channels and activating them at XL Center service points, they keep business messages distinct from personal chats and avoid spam, improving service focus.

At the same time, a growing number of users are turning unused prepaid mobile credit into digital cash. Platforms such as Rajaconvert allow consumers to send surplus pulse to a designated number, which is then converted at an operator‑specific rate into balances for e‑wallets like DANA, OVO, GoPay and others. This provides an alternative use for otherwise idle airtime.

Both practices reflect a shift toward cleaner digital communication and more flexible handling of prepaid telco assets in Indonesia's increasingly mobile‑first economy.
