Indonesia's OJK Chair Friderica Widyasari Dewi Pushes Carbon Market and Sustainable Finance
Chair of Indonesia's Financial Services Authority (OJK), Friderica Widyasari Dewi, outlined a four‑pillar strategy to strengthen the country's sustainable finance ecosystem. The pillars include developing an Indonesian Sustainable Finance Taxonomy, enhancing climate‑risk management tools, improving sustainability disclosures, and supporting the development of an Indonesian carbon market.
At the Maybank Indonesia Sustainable Finance Forum on 30 June 2026, Friderica emphasized the need for collaboration among regulators, government, financial institutions, businesses, and investors to drive the low‑carbon transition. A week later, on 6 July 2026, she praised the rapid launch of a forest carbon trading scheme (Non‑SPE‑GRK) by the Ministry of Forestry, calling it a historic step that opens global green‑investment opportunities and showcases cross‑agency synergy under strong presidential leadership.
