Indonesia's Patriot Expedition Team Deploys 1,476 Academics to Boost Transmigration Regions
The Indonesian government’s Transmigration Deputy Minister Viva Yoga Mauladi announced that 1,476 academicians will be deployed to 53 transmigration areas under the Patriot Expedition Team (TEP) program. The second‑batch deployment includes 39 professors, 10 postdoctoral researchers, 158 doctors, 49 master’s degree holders, 214 applied master’s students and 937 undergraduates from institutions across the country.
The TEP members are tasked with conducting on‑site research, providing policy recommendations and fostering innovation to transform transmigration villages into new economic and cultural centres. Mauladi highlighted successes such as Musi Banyuasin’s rise to the nation’s top rice‑producing region in 2025, citing the potential of science‑based village development to generate broader regional growth.
