Indonesia's PERURI Launches Sandbox Design Chip Platform

State-owned Perusahaan Umum Percetakan Uang Republik Indonesia (PERURI) unveiled the Sandbox Design Chip Merah Putih, a free web‑based environment that lets students, researchers, industry players and start‑ups design and prototype semiconductor chips online. Director General Teguh Arief Indratmoko said the sandbox aims to build national talent, lower high equipment costs and reinforce Indonesia’s digital sovereignty and security for documents and strategic data. The launch in Jakarta was attended by Minister of Education, Science and Technology Brian Yuliarto and other government and industry officials, who highlighted the need for a domestic semiconductor ecosystem to reduce foreign‑exchange outflows and strengthen the country’s position in the global chip market.
