Indonesia's PNM creates tens of thousands of jobs for low‑income school graduates
PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM), a state‑owned financing firm operating under the Danantara program, is expanding its role beyond ultra‑micro entrepreneur lending to create employment for tens of thousands of high‑school and vocational‑school graduates from low‑income families across Indonesia. The company says the surge in its client base is driving demand for field staff, allowing it to absorb more than 70,000 workers nationwide, about 88 % of whom are women, with over 43,000 being SMA/SMK graduates.
The initiative aligns with the government’s push to strengthen the UMKM sector as an engine of economic growth. COO Dony Oskaria emphasized that "Transformasi BUMN harus tetap mengedepankan perlindungan pegawai dan hubungan industrial yang sehat," while CEO Kindaris highlighted that the growth of ultra‑micro businesses generates a multiplier effect that opens job opportunities for disadvantaged youth and supports community welfare. PNM also provides training, career development and scholarship programs for its new staff.
