Indonesia's PNM showcases Islamic microfinance for 16.1 million ultra‑micro borrowers at Halal Expo
PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) presented its inclusive Islamic financing model at the Halal Expo Indonesia 2026 in Jakarta. In a session titled "Social Collateral, Real Impact," Operational Director Lalu Dodot Patria Ary highlighted how the programme, serving 16.1 million ultra‑micro customers through 58 branches in 36 provinces, uses group‑based social collateral instead of physical assets. According to PNM, 74 % of participants reported higher incomes, 72 % gained a greater voice in household decisions, and 90 % felt more financially independent. The initiative is positioned as a tool for poverty alleviation and is linked to broader D‑8 goals of boosting intra‑bloc halal trade to US$500 billion by 2030. Delegates from nine D‑8 member countries attended the talk, underscoring Indonesia’s role in promoting inclusive Islamic finance globally.
