Indonesia's Population Ministry expands nutrition aid and seeks role in BLT distribution
Minister of Population and Family Planning Wihaji called on Tim Pendamping Keluarga (TPK) cadres to verify that the nutritious food assistance (Makan Bergizi, MBG) reaches pregnant women, lactating mothers and toddlers outside PAUD programs. He highlighted the importance of field checks for the stunting‑reduction program, noting that distribution in Sleman district has already exceeded 50 % and that stunting rates have fallen from 5.30 % in 2023 to 4.21 % in 2025.
In the legislature, DPR member Ranny Fahd Arafiq proposed that the ministry be designated as a distributor of the basic livelihood assistance (BLT) program, citing its extensive network of family counselors, TPK volunteers and Posyandu cadres that reach remote villages. He argued that the ministry’s experience in family‑centered programs could improve the targeting of BLT payments and support Indonesia’s “Indonesia Emas 2045” development goals.
