Indonesia's Provinces Target Rice Yield Boost and Flood‑Damaged Field Recovery

The provincial government of Central Sulawesi announced a goal to raise average rice yields from about 4 tonnes per hectare to 6 tonnes per hectare by 2027. Governor Anwar Hafid said the target supports national food‑security objectives and will be pursued through modern farming techniques, mechanisation and digital tools.

In eastern Aceh, the provincial authorities and Universitas Samudra are preparing technical designs to rehabilitate rice fields damaged by the 2025 floods. The project will map flood‑affected lands with drones and GPS, assess irrigation damage, and plan reconstruction of canals and embankments. The effort aims to restore agricultural productivity quickly, strengthen regional food security and improve resilience to future flooding.
