Indonesia's Regional Festivals Boost UMKM and Community Engagement
The Karya Kreatif Sulawesi Selatan (KKSS) and South Sulawesi Digital Festival (DigiFest) 2026 concluded after six days, highlighting a partnership between Bank Indonesia, the South Sulawesi provincial government and local banks. The event secured financing commitments of IDR 18.27 billion for micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM) and recorded digital sales of IDR 1.35 billion, with more than 8,000 visitors and 1,000 participating UMKM. Bank Mandiri contributed IDR 12.2 billion and Bank Sulselbar IDR 6.1 billion.
In Central Java, the Rembang Symphoni Fest 2026 marked the 285th anniversary of Rembang Regency. Thousands gathered at the town square to enjoy performances by local and national musicians, while the concert was streamed live on the regional tourism department’s YouTube channel. Regent Harno thanked security forces and urged attendees to enjoy the festivities responsibly. Both festivals underscored the role of cultural events in promoting local economies, digital payment adoption, and community cohesion across Indonesia.
