Indonesia's Samsat launches data integration and service innovations to raise vehicle tax compliance
At the National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) of Samsat 2026 held in Bandar Lampung, PT Jasa Raharja (Persero) director Muhammad Awaluddin highlighted the need for cross‑agency data integration and big‑data analytics to improve vehicle tax compliance. He noted that of the 51.9 million vehicles with overdue motor vehicle tax (PKB) by June 2026, only about 24 million had paid, leaving the national compliance rate at roughly 46 percent.
Government officials, including Director General Agus Fatoni of the Ministry of Home Affairs, announced five practical innovations for regional Samsat offices: full digitalisation of services, drive‑through counters, mobile "Samsat Keliling" units, the e‑Samsat platform, and door‑to‑door assistance. Successful pilots such as Pekanbaru’s door‑to‑door tax‑notice delivery, which added roughly IDR 400 billion in revenue, were cited as models for other districts. The meeting underscored the importance of collaboration among the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Police Traffic Directorate, Jasa Raharja and local governments to modernise Samsat operations and boost tax collection.
