Indonesia's Transmigration Minister promotes market-oriented business development

Transmigration Minister M. Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara has emphasized that business development in transmigration areas must be market-oriented to effectively increase resident income. He advised that development should focus not only on production but also on identifying buyers and ensuring products can boost community earnings.

In the Batu Betumpang Transmigration Area of South Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands, the IPB University Patriot Expedition Team (TEP) 1 is exploring a partnership to supply vegetables to the Pulau Besar Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG). This initiative aims to provide farmers with more stable buyers for their harvests.

Through the Farmer Field and Business School (FFBS) program and the Trans-Organic Demplot in Sumber Jaya Permai Village, farmers are receiving guidance that extends beyond cultivation. Training now includes sorting, grading by quality, and packaging to meet specific market demands regarding type, quality, volume, and delivery schedules.
