Indonesia's Transport Minister calls for service evaluation on National Transportation Day
During the 2026 National Transportation Day ceremonies held on September 17, Indonesian Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi emphasized that the occasion should serve as a momentum for evaluating public services and renewing commitments to the community. He stressed that transportation must prioritize safety, regional connectivity, and sustainable systems to meet rising public expectations.
Minister Purwagandhi expressed deep condolences regarding recent transportation accidents, stating that safety is a “moral responsibility” and the “pride” of transportation personnel, rather than a mere administrative routine.
In North Sumatra, Vice Governor Surya delivered the Minister's mandate, highlighting the importance of connectivity in linking production centers to markets to reduce logistics costs, as directed by President Prabowo Subianto. The mandate called for strengthening urban mass transit, improving intermodal integration, and utilizing digital transformation to ensure more transparent and effective oversight. The Minister noted that while technology is vital, the ultimate success of public service relies on human integrity and decision-making.
