Indonesia's Vocational Colleges Strengthen Industry Ties

The Faculty of Agriculture, Science and Technology at Universitas Warmadewa (FPST Unwar) began a field‑work collaboration with the Shrimp Hatchery Banyuwangi of the Japfa Group. Dean Prof. Dr. Ir. Luh Suriati said the visit was meant “to introduce students directly to industry conditions” and to lay the groundwork for internships, practicum programs and longer‑term cooperation under the Outcome‑Based Education (OBE) curriculum.

Meanwhile, Politeknik Sorowako in Luwu Timur reported that 85 % of its graduates have secured employment within six months, largely through campus‑hiring arrangements with mining companies. Director Harjuma highlighted the institute’s focus on hands‑on training, strict admission testing and close links with the sector as key drivers of the high placement rate.
