Indonesia's Woodball Championship selects 223 athletes for 2026 World Cup

The 2026 National Woodball Championship was held at Lapangan Banteng Square in Jakarta from July 6‑10, featuring 14 elite events and youth divisions for U‑12, U‑15 and U‑18. A record 223 athletes from 16 provinces took part, the highest participation in the tournament’s history.

Chairman of the Indonesia Woodball Association, Aang Sunadji, said the event was free of registration fees to ease the burden on regional associations and to allow the best senior and junior players to compete. He added that the championship results will be a primary factor in selecting Indonesia’s team for the 2026 World Cup Woodball in Malaysia. Jakarta’s Youth and Sports Office head Andri Yansyah and NOC Indonesia secretary‑general Wijaya Noeradi highlighted the support of public facilities and the sustainable use of sports venues.

The competition served both as a title contest and as a platform to strengthen athlete development from an early age, aiming to boost Indonesia’s performance on the upcoming world stage.
