Indore and Karnal record separate domestic murders of women by male relatives

In Indore, Madhya Pradesh, a 35‑year‑old son named Akash was arrested after he allegedly beat his 60‑year‑old mother, Gita Bai, to death. The dispute began when Gita objected to Akash bringing another woman into their home. Police filed a murder case under Indian Penal Code Section 103 and detained the son at Laskaraya Thana in the Niranjanpur settlement.

In Karnal, Haryana, a drunken husband attacked his sleeping wife, Sita, with a knife, killing her, and then tried to assault their daughter Jyoti, who managed to escape. The husband fled the scene; police have launched a manhunt. Relatives described Sita as the family’s sole breadwinner, while the husband was a regular alcoholic.
