Indore and Nashik recognized in Clean Air Survey 2026

The Clean Air Survey 2026 has recognized several Indian cities and wards for their efforts in managing air quality and controlling pollution. In the national rankings, Indore secured the second position in the country for its air quality management. The city’s success is attributed to initiatives such as regular road sweeping with machines to control dust, the expansion of green belts through large-scale plantation, and the promotion of electric vehicles to reduce transport-related emissions.

At the ward level, Ward 7 of the Nashik Municipal Corporation achieved third place nationally. For this achievement, the ward was awarded 30 lakh rupees, which is designated for air pollution control and environmental improvement projects. The awards ceremony was held at the Indira Paryavaran Bhavan in New Delhi, attended by officials including National Green Tribunal Chairperson Justice Prakash Srivastava.

Nationally, the survey distributed a total of 5.25 crore rupees to top-performing cities and 2.70 crore rupees to outstanding wards to encourage continued environmental conservation and air quality improvements.
