Indore food authorities suspend licenses for BigBasket, HeyDeli Pizza, and Social Indore

Food safety authorities in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, have suspended the food licenses of three prominent establishments: HeyDeli Pizza (Shri Harikrishna Group), BigBasket (Innovative Retail Concepts Private Limited), and Social Indore LLP. The suspensions follow inspections that revealed significant breaches of hygiene and safety protocols.

At HeyDeli Pizza, inspectors reported finding cockroaches in the kitchen, the use of rusty utensils, and food being prepared in burnt oil. BigBasket was flagged for improper storage practices, including mixing food items with non-food materials, and a lack of required medical fitness certificates for employees. Social Indore LLP also faced scrutiny regarding food storage practices.

All three entities had previously been issued improvement notices under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. However, the establishments failed to provide satisfactory responses or implement the required changes within the designated timeframe. Consequently, the licenses were suspended on August 31, and the businesses have been ordered to cease food operations and remove perishable items from their premises immediately.
