Indore Food Safety Drive Seizes 640 Litres Suspected Ghee

On July 25, 2026, the Madhya Pradesh Food Safety Administration conducted a special inspection in Indore district as part of the state’s campaign against adulterated food. Inspectors seized approximately 640 litres of suspected substandard ghee worth about ₹3 lakh and collected 21 food samples from five establishments, including Krish Enterprises, which stocked “Vastu” brand ghee imported from Gujarat.

The inspection was carried out under the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India’s Risk‑Based Inspection System (RBIS). Officials also found expired “Yeole Without Sugar Premix” at a local tea outlet, which was destroyed on site, and collected samples of milk, paneer, curd, muffins and other products from several dairies. All samples were sent to the State Food Testing Laboratory in Bhopal for analysis. Indore Collector Shivam Verma said the seizure was a precautionary measure pending lab results and warned that legal action will follow any confirmed violations under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. He urged the public to report any instances of food adulteration or expired products through official helplines.
