Indore High Court orders release of Bhagirathpura water crisis report
The Indore Bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court has ordered that the 600-page investigation report regarding the Bhagirathpura contaminated water crisis be uploaded to the court’s website. This decision follows petitions requesting public access to the document to facilitate legal arguments.
The investigation, conducted by a single-member commission led by retired Justice Sushil Gupta, examines the causes of water contamination and the subsequent deaths of 36 individuals in the Bhagirathpura area. The report, which was submitted in a sealed envelope on August 25, reportedly identifies official negligence and mentions irregularities or a potential scam related to drainage line works.
Previously, the court had restricted the public release of the report, though lawyers were permitted to review it at the Registrar’s office. The report is expected to be scanned and made available online within a few days.
