Indore Man Swept Away in Narmada River, Search Continues

A 30‑year‑old man from Indore, identified as Arpit Hada, was carried away by strong currents while bathing in the Narmada River at the Sahasradhara ghat in Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh, on Sunday. His foot reportedly slipped on the river’s rocky bed, pulling him into fast‑moving, deep water.

Police, Home Guard, the State Disaster Response Force and local divers launched a large‑scale search operation that continued through the night and resumed on Monday. Despite the involvement of boats and other resources, no trace of Hada was found, and the search remains ongoing. Maheshwar police officer Jagdish Goyal warned that the river’s rapid flow and deep sections are especially hazardous during the monsoon season and urged tourists to avoid bathing in unfamiliar or unsafe areas.
