Indore Murder: Bank Employee Killed After Refusing Marriage

Police in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, have classified the death of 26‑year‑old bank employee Palak Keshav as a pre‑planned murder. Investigators say her boyfriend, Mayank Shakya, strangled her after she rejected his proposal for marriage. To conceal the homicide, Shakya poured petrol over the body, set it alight, and opened a gas‑cylinder pipe to make the scene appear as an accidental fire.

CCTV footage, forensic analysis and technical evidence linked Shakya to the crime. He was arrested within 48 hours of the incident, which occurred in the Khajurana police‑station jurisdiction at Tapeshwari Bagh. The investigation continues, focusing on whether the killing was pre‑meditated or a spur‑of‑the‑moment act triggered by a marriage dispute.
