Indore police arrest man for impersonating IAS officer

Police in the Lasudia area of Indore have arrested a 28-year-old man for impersonating an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer and a District Collector to gain social influence and prestige.

The suspect, identified as Himanshu Panchal, originally claimed to be Raj Soni. During a police investigation at his residence in Omaxe City-1, Panchal was unable to provide valid official documentation and provided inconsistent statements. He eventually confessed that he was not an IAS officer but had been using the false identity to increase his status and authority among local residents.

Authorities seized various items used to facilitate the deception, including a black nameplate reading ‘IAS RAJ SONI – District Collector’, photo frames inscribed with ‘IAS Satyamev Jayate’, and other materials labeled ‘Satyamev Jayate – Collector Sahab’. A case has been registered against the accused under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
