Indore road collapses, creating a crater over 10 feet deep
A large section of a cemented road in the Pandharinath area of Indore collapsed on Monday, creating a crater more than 10 feet deep. The incident occurred near Rajwada while officials were inspecting routes for upcoming Anant Chaturdashi processions. No injuries or vehicle accidents were reported as no commuters were passing through the specific spot at the time of the collapse.
Local authorities from the Indore Municipal Corporation responded to the scene with heavy machinery to temporarily fill the hole with debris. Preliminary investigations suggest the subsidence may have been caused by a leakage in the underlying sewerage line. Other reports indicate that recent work on the Narmada pipeline in the vicinity may also be a contributing factor. This incident follows several other recent road collapses in the Vijay Nagar and Juni Indore areas, raising concerns regarding the quality of road construction and maintenance in the city.
